A Small Business
Doing Good Work

We moved to Maine because we love it here. We started Cedar and Post because we wanted to build something real — a product made carefully, from local materials, installed by the people who built it.

Cedar and Post founder

Built from Scratch, on Purpose

Cedar and Post is a small, local business. We are a team that moved to Maine, fell in love with the landscape and the craft tradition here, and decided to build something worth building.

The idea was simple: most mailboxes are an afterthought. We wanted to make one that wasn't — something built from real Maine cedar, designed cleanly, and installed with care.

Every post we sell is made to order. We source our cedar locally, cut and build each piece ourselves, and install every job personally.

How We Think About the Work

Local Materials

We use Maine cedar because it's the right wood for this climate and this region. It's naturally rot-resistant, beautiful, and available locally. We'd rather source close to home than ship something in from across the country.

Honest Quality

We're not going to tell you our posts are the best in the world. We will tell you they're built carefully, finished properly, and designed to hold up. We stand behind what we make.

Personal Service

When you reach out, you're talking to the people who will actually build and install your post. There's no sales team. We keep it direct because we think that's better for everyone.

What Goes into Every Post

Hand-Selected Cedar

We pick each board ourselves — looking for tight grain, good density, and natural character. Not every board makes the cut.

Clean Construction

Horizontal cedar planks, solid and square. We build for durability first, and the clean look follows from that.

Weather-Ready Finish

Each post is finished with a penetrating oil that protects the wood without hiding it. It handles rain, snow, and sun without peeling or cracking.
